What families ask first

How do I try a class?

Pick a class from the schedule and book a visit on our registration page, or call the studio. Wear something comfortable; socks are fine.

Which class is right for my child?

Ages 6 to 8 start in first steps and ages 9 to 11 in time steps. An older dancer who has not tapped before can start in first steps or time steps, and the teacher will place them at the door.

What should we wear?

A fitted top with leggings or shorts, hair off the face and socks for the first weeks. We will tell you when it is time for tap shoes or jazz shoes.

Do I need to stay?

A grown-up waits in the front hall for the first steps classes. Older dancers may be dropped off, and the door opens ten minutes before class.

May I watch?

Week 6 of every session is a watch week, and the window onto the Tap Room is always open to you.

What is a level, and how does a dancer move up?

A level is a group of dancers of about the same age who are working on the same steps. A dancer moves up when the teacher and the family agree, and there is no test.

What are the extras, like costumes and the recital?

Costumes are ordered in the winter, and the recital is billed on its own for the hall. How tuition works lists each extra and what it is for, and the registration page has the figures.

How are photos handled?

We ask for written permission before we share any photo of a dancer, and you can change your answer at any time. The family policies page has the full answer.

What if we miss a class?

A missed class can be made up in another class at the same level, or the level below, within the same session.

How does tuition work?

It depends on the class and how many classes a week a dancer takes. How tuition works explains it, and the registration page has the figures.
